The hidden meaning behind Childish Gambino’s (aka. Donald Glover) “This Is America”

Racial and ethnic inequalities loom large in American society. People of color face barriers everywhere they look. One may argue that this is the 21st-century and the racism era is far behind us and today America is free, progressive, independent, and inspired. Or is this ‘21st century America’ hiding its secret of violence, racism, and white supremism under a curtain of its American Dream? These two faces of America are the two sides of the same coin where one is how the world sees America while the other…

Situations where basic human needs aren’t fulfilled call for strong retaliation. Looking at Maslow’s “Hierarchy of Needs,” we observe that the motivation to fulfill any need will become stronger the longer it is denied. For example, migrants enter the United States illegally undertaking dangerous and perilous hardships because they can’t fulfill basic needs such as food, shelter or jobs in their home countries. In Sonia Nazario’s book, Enrique’s Journey, the author talks about life-threatening situations migrants face in Central America and Mexico. Nazario narrates, “She can barely afford food for him [Enrique] and his sister, Belky, who is seven. She’s…

Paneer Tikka has always been my family’s favorite appetizer. I grew up enjoying various paneer delicacies in India. Here is a simple recipe I created for when I miss home too much and the flavours just take me back in time. ♥️

If you can, use a BBQ for super smoky paneer tikka with coal.

The world’s second most populated country with over 1.3 billion people only had Apu Nahasapeemapetilon from The Simpsons to share their identity within the late ’80s and early ’90s. This identity was neither controlled nor inspired by the true stories of India. It, in fact, created a negative story, a false story. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in her Ted Talk “The Danger of a Single Story” says, “The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story” (12:57). Adichie captures the essence…

After going to Din Tai Fung, we were inspired to replicate their veggie dumplings and their famous Spicy Sauce. The primary reason we decided to take this task upon ourselves was because of a 2-hour wait to get in which motivated us to make it ourselves. We quickly taught ourselves how to fold dumplings (thanks to YouTube) but couldn't really recreate their spicy sauce easily.

After multiple trials, we created our own version of Spicy Sauce which we now prefer. 🙈

Enjoy our recipe for our most favorite dinner, Vegan Beyond Beef Dumplings, and the ‘accidental’ Spicy Sauce.👩🏻‍🍳👨🏼‍🍳

What is Kokh all about?

‘Kokh’ (meaning womb) is a documentary made by a team of 7 on India’s 2016 Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill. The Bill has been introduced in the parliament to ban a deep rooted industry- ‘Commercial Surrogacy’ with its hub being a small town called Anand in Gujarat. The bill allows altruistic surrogacy only for heterosexual infertile couples who have been married for 5 years. This bill was proposed because there only mere guidelines existed; there was no proper regulation of surrogacy practices in the country which have led…
